Simplified Installation Steps;

Locate a mounting position for the supplied Flexicast Wireless Router. The best choice is a position that has line of sight to all screens to be serviced by terminators. Have your LAN or Computer support staff or contractors run a CAT5 LAN cable to that point that can provide public internet access (ie access via your public ADSL or Cable router).

Place the Flexicast Wireless Router in the chosen position and plug the cable in to the socket shown in the diagram to the right and power the router up.

Plug in each Terminator to its screen via the VGA cables provided (if ordered) and power up the Terminator.

Watch screen prompts to identify any potential error conditions and follow the instructions shown. If a problem cannot be resolved then by all means call Flexicast support on 1800 676 705 for support.

More Technical Installation steps (for technicians and the technically minded):

Locate a mounting position for the supplied Flexicast Wireless Router. The best choice is a position that has line of sight to all screens to be serviced by terminators that can also be serviced by a single cable run to your comms cabinet or gateway internet router (ie your ADSL router). Line of sight is not mandatory but preferred if available. If a likely source of interference such as a phone system base station, escalator, elevator or other likely cause of EMI, it would be better to choose a less questionable position.

Cable a single CAT5e patch cable to your communications cabinet (if installed) and patch it to your switch or gateway router as you would a normal computer that is to have access to internet. Be careful not to patch to any TAB routers or switches as they will not provide internet access and could potentially interfere with critical TAB systems in your venue. Always work backwards from your public internet gateway to ensure the correct network equipment is used.

Plug the supplied Flexicast Wireless Router into the installed CAT5e cable (and ensure it has a path to the internet via that cable). The supplied router requires the establishment of an internet address with your router via DHCP. If your network manager requires a MAC address to assign a fixed IP address to this router, this can be found on the back of the router on a white sticker immediately below the printed word 'MAC'. For the correct router network socket for the the cable see the diagram below. Once the cable is plugged in, power up the router.

For each screen to be serviced by Terminators, connect the VGA cable from the Terminator to the VGA input of the television or monitor to be used. If your television or monitor only has a DVI input, you will need to use a DVI-VGA converter plug. These are availble via your nearest electronic store or can be supplied by Flexicast. Plug the Terminator power supply into a nearby power point and turn it on.

Watch screen prompts to identify any potential error conditions and follow the instructions shown. If a problem cannot be resolved then by all means call Flexicast support on 1800 676 705 for support.

If any units are in a remote section of the venue outside of reliable wireless access to the Flexicast Wireless Router, units can be hardwired as an option. If a Terminator finds a valid CAT5 cable plugged in it will use this wired network access in preference to trying to establish access through the wireless method. In this case IP addresses for each unit wired this way will need to be assigned by the gateway router using DHCP.
